How the color extractor works

The tool samples your image, groups similar pixels into color clusters, and reports the share of the artwork each cluster covers. Colors that sit very close together are merged so you get a practical palette rather than hundreds of near identical shades.

Why coverage percentage matters

For screen printing, each color in your design is a separate screen, so the number of colors affects setup cost more than the size of the print. Seeing coverage helps you spot colors that take up almost none of the artwork and can be dropped or merged to simplify the print.

Getting the cleanest results

  • Upload the original logo file rather than a screenshot or photo.
  • Use a transparent PNG so the background does not get counted as a color.
  • Avoid heavily compressed JPGs, which add noise around edges.
